In a ceremony organized by the ministry of information and culture in Kabul on July 1st, 2004 Malalai Joya presented Malalai of Miawan Award to Mr. Syed Makhdom Rahin, the minister of information & culture to be placed in the Afghan National Archive as a national asset.

Joya delivers speech in the event

Parts of speech by Malalai Joya:
"I believe you all are aware that Afghans Culture Center in Europe granted golden award of Malalai of Miwand to me for my speech in Constitution Loya Jirga and now I want to present this award to the ministry of information and culture to be placed in national archive. I dedicate this award to suffered people of my country.

... people's support inside and abroad gave me more strength and I become more determined to my words. I demanded the trial of the criminals at national and international level and asserted that it is a mistake to test those that were already tested and that was the wish of our people"

Mr. Makhdom Rahin

Parts of speech by Mr. Makhdom Rahin, minister of information and culture:
"Malalai Joya is an symbol of the girls and women that has come out from a bloody arena of right against evil who knows well her position and that of her generation and gender. And the high esteem and honor that people of Afghanistan paid to their trustworthy daughter and granting this award to her was an indication of the gratitude that Afghan people had for her. I wish success for Malalai Joya and her prosperous generation, whether girls or boys who know their respected status at both material and spiritual dimensions and strive for a better tomorrow for their ruined country."

Mr. Qasim Akhgar

Parts of speech by Mr. Qasim Akhgar, intellectual and political analyst in Afghanistan affairs:
"In contrast to what the male chauvinism believes, Malalai Joya proved that Afghan women are still alive and will remain alive. Malalai Joya showed that the new generation will never bend against such conspiracies because women liberation is the result of their own struggle hence we can't grant them freedom. Unlike the remarks by some authorities, rights can't be gifted to women; rights are the capacity and the talent that should be achieved. Malalai Joya had the determination to prove that right should be brought up as she established a position for herself. It was shown to the world that heroes like Malalai can and will rise again. We are proud of Malalai and this means resistance is alive."

Parts of speech by Habiba Surabi, minister of women's affairs
"When Malalai bestows that award to the national archive, in reality she puts the responsibility on my, yours and other sisters and brothers shoulders to remain in battle of rights against evil."

Mrs. Habiba Sarabi, minister of women's affairs
